Warnings - unplugged

A selection of first warning signs. Most of them were photographed at different locations across Edinburgh. One of them is also this web-site's banner (in case you didn't notice). More warnings to come soon!

First conceptual drawings...

The doodles below are my very first ideas for the warning-posters. Scroll down to see what they turned into when I printed and placed them across the city (first post). While the locations and messages have changed, the main concept remained the same.

About a chair which didn't wear protective clothing...

Office workers are reminded that not wearing high-visibility clothing while performingt desk-job tasks can cause death and serious injuries. Post inspired by a chair which broke into pieces days after I stuck a warning on it. It should have worn a fluorescent vest...

'Safe' booklet in production...

Selected photographs of the warning-posters will be published in a booklet documenting the project. Each page of the booklet is folded at the edges to avoid the risk of cutting the fingers with the otherwise razor-sharp and lethal paper.


Warning! Office chairs ahead

When I was researching the subject, I came across the interesting book by Wildavsky. 'Searching for safety', 1988 mentioned an incident where a series of office chairs was... exploding causing death and injuries. How terrible a designer you have to be to turn an innocent object into a bomb...
